Get The Best Out Of Your Moisturiser

Are you using too much moisturiser

Are you using too much moisturiser? While liberally applying moisturiser may feel like the best way to get much-needed hydration into your skin, you might actually be doing yourself a disservice.

Contrary to popular belief, applying too much moisturiser will not efficiently hydrate your skin, as your skin will absorb as much product as it needs and nothing more. The excess product will then lay on top of the skin, clogging pores and not allowing the skin to breathe. As you go through your day, this clogging will only be intensified as sweat struggles to make its way through your pores, and makeup builds up on the surface of your skin, inadvertently making the problem worse.

This can lead to unnecessary breakouts and disrupt the skin’s healthy production of sebum, which is responsible for protecting your skin from the elements, as well as stopping bacterial and fungal infections.

As well as this, when used too much, the delicate skin on your face can become dependent on creams for moisture, rather than nourishing itself from the inside, creating tired and lazy skin that has a dull appearance.

Because facial moisturisers are highly concentrated, you probably don’t need as much as you think. At BeeBio, we would suggest applying no more than a blueberry amount for your entire face, for both our day and night cream. No matter your skin type, use a moisturiser no more than twice daily.
